About The Position

The Department of Radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina is actively recruiting for a PGY-6 Fellow to work with cardiothoracic and cardiovascular radiology faculty in the performance and interpretation of cardiothoracic and cardiovascular examinations, i.e., x-ray, CT, and MR. Time will be spent 50/50 between cardiovascular and thoracic imaging. Clinical work will be performed in the MUSC Main Hospital and MUSC Ashley River Tower on-campus site. Fellows work closely with referring physicians so that appropriate studies are performed. Participation in resident and medical student teaching is also required. In addition to being active team members of the cardiac and thoracic reading rooms, fellows also participate in ongoing research projects under the supervision of the cardiothoracic faculty. Fellows obtain hands-on training in 4D image post-processing of CTAs and MRIs, including pre and post-procedural imaging of novel cardiac devices such as TAVR and LVADs. The clinical teaching is complemented by interdisciplinary conferences.

Requirements

  • MD degree
  • Completion of radiology residency training.
  • Must hold USMLE Steps, I, II, and III, and valid ECFMG certificate

  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
  • Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.

Responsibilities
