About The Position

This position reports to the Work Management Manager and supports field personnel performing construction and maintenance activities for substation and transmission line assets. The Planner is responsible for preparing work packages for both Construction and Maintenance activities, reviewing equipment history to identify special requirements, and identifying additional concurrent maintenance or capital projects for resource efficiency. The role involves documenting and explaining variances in actual versus estimated job task work hours, closely monitoring work progress, and raising issues to schedulers and supervisors to improve efficiencies. The Planner may also ensure accurate completion of NERC related documentation. Collaboration with construction resources and Transmission Project Management is crucial for planning, estimating, and allocating resources to projects within the Transmission Construction Section, requiring first-hand knowledge of construction activities or the ability to acquire it. The position demands strong organizational and collaboration skills for producing excellent project plans and estimates. It supports the development and implementation of construction and maintenance work plans for annual programs ranging from $150M - $300M (capital and O&M) and continually manages changes to these plans to align with funding requirements and prioritize work. The Planner is responsible for ensuring the annual Construction & Maintenance work plan is completed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and five (5) or more years of work-related experience; OR High School/GED and seven (7) or more years of work-related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must live in the upstate of South Carolina.

  • Working knowledge of work management system, e.g., Passport, MS Project, THOR, Artemis Project View, e-Max, TOA, P6, Adobe, Paper port, MS Office (word, excel, access, etc).
  • Substantial specific knowledge in craft areas such as electrical, relaying, apparatus, sub-station and line construction / maintenance work to effectively develop job plans.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to function effectively in a diverse support organization.
  • Vast knowledge of substation, apparatus, relaying and line maintenance practices in order to identify all needed procedures, resources and clearances to effectively perform each maintenance / construction job.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work packages to perform both Construction and Maintenance activities.
  • Review the maintenance/performance history of equipment to identify and determine special requirements necessary to successfully complete the work.
  • Identify any additional maintenance work or capital projects that could be worked concurrently to gain resource efficiencies.
  • Document and explain variances in the actual job task work hours versus estimated job task work hours.
  • Closely monitor the progress and status of work and raise issues to schedulers and supervisors to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Ensure accurate completion of NERC related documentation (may be required).
  • Work closely with construction resources and resources within Transmission Project Management to plan, estimate, and allocate resources to all projects assigned to the Transmission Construction Section.
  • Support the development and implementation of construction and maintenance work plans to support annual programs ranging from $150M - $300M annually (capital and O&M, approximate).
  • Continually manage changes in these plans to align with changing funding requirements, and to align plans to execute the highest priority work.
  • Ensure the annual Construction & Maintenance work plan is completed.
