Position Overview: The PGM intern student is expected to assist the professional staff in every aspect of the total golf operation and golf experience. This position will include responsibilities on both the practice tee and bag room with exposure to the tournament operations. This position will work closely with the Head Golf Professional, Senior Assistant Golf Professional, all golf operations staff and other club department heads and their staffs.

  • Help to oversee all areas of the golf operation to ensure expectations and standards are being met.
  • Work hand in hand to assist the bag room manager.
  • Be anticipatory to all members and guests daily.
  • Manage the staging of all golf bags and golf carts for the operation.
  • Organization of the cart staging area and making sure it is presentable.
  • Monitor the practice tee daily and provide support.
  • Maintain a constant presence on the practice tee to organize the following:
  • Hitting Stations
  • Cleanliness of all member and guest golf clubs
  • Golf balls are adequately stocked and presentable
  • Range balls are picked and cleaned
  • Short game areas are cleaned and presentable
  • Broken tees are cleaned up
  • Trashes are emptied
  • Upholding the appearance standard of the range daily.
  • Communicate and provide any services needed for the Director of Instruction.
  • Maintain and uphold the appearance standard of the entire golf cart fleet.
  • Making sure all golf carts are stocked and prepared adequately.
  • In depth cleaning and detailing of all golf carts and cart staging areas.
  • Assist with quarterly inventories (Area of responsibility to be assigned).
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Professional, Assistant Professionals Director of Instruction, Merchandiser, Bag Staff, Valet, Practice Tee, Dining Room Staff, Food and Beverage Manager, Front Office and Housekeeping regarding daily operations and special events.
  • Develop creative ways of improving any part of the golf operation.
  • Play golf with Members and maintain a respectable golf game.
  • Aid the Head Golf Professional in every phase of the golf operation.
  • Spread hospitality and goodwill to all Members, Guests, and Staff.
  • Participate in the Professional Staff education calendar.
  • Must display a high level of professionalism, attention to detail and caring attitude.
  • Individual must exhibit a passion for the game as well as a willingness to continuously improve.
  • This student must take great pride in providing the very best member and guest experience daily.
  • Other responsibilities include bag room, practice tee and golf cart fleet duties, assisting in tournament operations, inventory management and participation in the professional staff education calendar.
