About The Position

This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks as described below, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptations and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar and battery facilities. This also includes performing routine tasks such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, PGD Field Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the FL Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM's, Vendors and Contractors as required. Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Experience: 2+ years
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the inspection and maintenance of high voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Collaborating with solar Engineers and regional leaders to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and failures within the high voltage system.
  • Conducting routine tests and measurements on high voltage equipment, accurately interpreting and documenting the results.
  • Assisting in the commissioning of new high voltage equipment, adhering to engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Participating in the scheduling and coordination of maintenance activities, minimizing disruption to the electrical system's operation.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance and condition of high voltage equipment, promptly reporting any abnormalities or potential issues.
  • Assisting in the repair and replacement of faulty high voltage components, ensuring timely restoration of power supply.
  • Following established safety protocols and procedures while working with high voltage equipment, minimizing risks to yourself and others.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in high voltage technology through continuous learning and professional development.
