About The Position

PAR is seeking a dynamic Full-Time PFT Lead Technician for our West Broad location.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • At least 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • RRT or CPFT is required.
  • Virginia State Respiratory Therapist license is required.
  • Knowledge of pulmonary diseases and medications
  • Knowledge of Pulmonary Associates’ employment policies
  • Knowledge of medical office protocols and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical insurance and DME company requirements
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage, Medicaid, and Medicare.
  • Knowledge and experience in supervision and management.
  • Skill in learning new computer software and web-based applications.
  • Skill in coordinating and supervising workflow.
  • Skill in conflict resolution and de-escalating tense situations.
  • Skill in administering pulmonary function testing and other related care and treatments.
  • Skill in keying information into computer programs and databases accurately.
  • Skill in using computer software in a Windows environment.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Excel and Allscripts or similar EMR.
  • Ability to coach, counsel, and motivate employees.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and stress.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate face to face, on the phone, and in writing emails and EMR messages.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in policies, processes, and systems.
  • Ability to use good judgment.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and make suggestions for process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • PFT clinical experience preferred.
  • 1+ years of management and/or training experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Allscripts PM and EMR experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all PFT lab schedules. Arrange coverage for vacations and same day callouts.
  • Supervise daily workflow and make changes where needed to ensure PFT lab runs efficiently.
  • Monitor lab processes and policies for compliance, communicate changes to employees, and make suggestions for improvement to Director of Operations.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to PFT lab employees on routine and non-routine issues.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new PFT employees.
  • Arrange and/or facilitate new employee training.
  • Coordinate and monitor employee work schedules, lunch times, break times, PTO requests etc. to ensure labs are adequately staffed.
  • Evaluate testing of PFT employees; provide coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Coordinate student externships with HR.
  • Order supplies and inventory.
  • Trouble shoot computer, phone, and other technology problems that may occur. Oversee maintenance contract for PFT machines. Ensure upgrades to computer system occur.
  • Hold quarterly meetings with PFT staff to discuss departmental needs.
  • Meet quarterly with Director of Operations and office managers to review any needs of PFT labs.
  • Complete special projects such as needed.
  • Provide coverage for PFT labs if short staffed.
  • Adhere to Pulmonary Associates’ standards of excellent customer service to patients, caregivers, providers, coworkers, and those outside of Pulmonary Associates at all times.
  • Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures in order to protect patient privacy and security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by provider, supervisor, or member of Administration.
  • Administers pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, flow volume loops with and without bronchodilator, DLCO, nitrogen washout, and plethysmography.
  • Administers six-minute walk test, 02 therapy, and Nebulizer treatment.
  • Reviews pulmonary function studies with medical students, medical staff, and physicians.
  • Educates patients regarding pulmonary medications and use of oxygen.
  • Coordinates clinic schedules for pulmonary physicians and for special tests within the clinic and outlying facilities
  • Maintains pulmonary function equipment and associated supplies.
  • Completes reports for pulmonary function tests and distributes to ordering physicians.
