About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising the Data Management & Analysis Branch staff as well as managing and overseeing the branch’s programs. The branch maintains a “one-stop-shop” for DWR data, with a focus on managing DWR’s PFAS data. The branch supports the Division’s PFAS work through improved data organization, streamlined workflows, and reduced time needed for PFAS data entry and analysis, along with other areas of DWR data management and analysis. The branch manages GIS, EQuIS and Laserfiche programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressive experience in environmental work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the GIS program, including establishing goals for GIS projects related to PFAS and other DWR programs and monitor staff accomplishments to ensure overall program goals are met. This may also include organizing, creating, updating, and maintaining DWR’s datasets, managing GIS data and database connectivity, administering ArcGIS Online Organization, and managing GIS infrastructure.
  • Manage the EQuIS program, including establishing goals for various EQuIS projects related to PFAS and other DWR programs and monitor staff accomplishments to ensure overall program goals are met. This may also include data processing and loading, data reporting and communication, automation, systems integration, and system optimization.
  • Manage the Enterprise Database system (Laserfiche), including establishing goals for various Laserfiche projects related to PFAS and other DWR programs and monitor staff accomplishments to ensure overall program goals are met. This may also include data processing and loading, data reporting and communication, automation, systems integration, and system optimization.
  • Plan, organize, and direct work operations and evaluate accomplishments of staff, including developing work plans, assessing performance of and mentoring staff on a regular basis throughout the annual performance cycle.
  • Analyze training needs for staff and implement training as appropriate, assign and review work performed by staff, and conduct interviews and hiring for staff vacancies within the branch.
  • Represent the Division in meetings and/or on committees with all levels of DWR, DEQ, state IT, EPA and other organizations regarding GIS, EQuIS and Laserfiche.
