About The Position

The PEX Specialist is responsible for performing cleanings, changeovers, setups, troubleshooting, and maintenance on all primary and secondary PEX manufacturing equipment. This includes extrusion lines, cutters, corrugators, coilers, printing systems, and all related downstream and support equipment. The PEX Specialist ensures equipment runs safely, efficiently, and produces high‑quality product in a cost‑effective manner.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in extrusion, plastics processing, CNC machining, or other mechanical/industrial operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.
  • Ability to learn and operate all PEX extrusion and downstream equipment.
  • Skilled in using precision measurement devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers, OD/ID gauges, laser measurement systems).
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions; perform basic math; and use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours and regularly walk, bend, stoop, and twist.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, maintain, assess, repair, and properly document all PEX tooling, dies, extrusion heads, and equipment.
  • Perform startup, shutdown, changeovers, purging, and material transitions on PEX extrusion lines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or basic electrical issues impacting PEX line performance.
  • Monitor line performance to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and product consistency.
  • Partner with Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment is operating within defined specifications.
  • Work with leadership and vendors to procure, repair, and install tooling, dies, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with leadership and planner/buyers on scheduling startups, cleanings, and changeovers.
  • Review and improve existing PEX processes, documents, instructions, and methods.
  • Execute validation protocols for equipment, tooling, and product runs; prepare supporting technical reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, cleanings, adjustments, inspections, and line performance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and wear required PPE.
  • Follow all safety procedures and promote safe work practices.
  • Ensure full adherence to 6S (Safety, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
