About The Position

The Petroleum Inventory Specialist/Analyst (Terminal Financial Analyst) is responsible for providing financial and inventory oversight to their assigned locations.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge and understanding of basic accounting and industry concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of terminal operations, including physical measurement of storage tanks, railcars, trucks, and other containers for use in confirmation of product quantities.
  • Ability to analyze and make judgments as to the accuracy of accounting data.
  • Ability to present information effectively to all levels of management.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work, excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to independently develop solutions to problems/challenges as they arise.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including an assertive (yet diplomatic) personality, a great attitude, and the ability to handle change.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required, preferably in a terminal setting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using SAP is preferred but not required.
  • Experience within Oil and Gas Industry, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the oversight of the Inventory Management systems, in an effort to eliminate corporate /customer exposure due to inventory losses.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze inventory reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are identified and corrected as necessary.
  • Review inventory statements for acceptable gain/loss, researching any operational variances issues.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of inventory-related reports and other reports as assigned.
  • Monitor and allocate expenditures against annual terminal budget; inform managers of budget impact; prepare budget reports.
  • Serve as the primary contact for transactional information for various internal customers.
  • Perform key reporting functions (routine and ad-hoc) timely for various stakeholders, including Operational data-related reporting.
  • Monitor overall expenditures; promote cost control/containment; advise terminal leadership on cost variances and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure correct coding and approvals of vendor invoices. Initiate or makes corrections when needed.
  • Prepare, submit, and track the status of Purchase Order requests, following up as required.
  • Coordinate with Procurement Services, providing assistance related to terminal procurement activities.
  • Organize and submit AFE requests. Monitor and report AFE spend; retain local AFE expense records; complete AFE closeouts.
  • Review vendor invoices in detail and follow up on any questionable charges.
  • Request AP aging reports from vendors and review against posted invoices.
  • Maintain vendor/purchase document files.
  • Train and serve as a backup for the Terminal Scheduler as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
