SUMMARY Seeking a Summer 2026 Petroleum Engineering Intern. Opportunity to gain valuable work experience, while contributing to a leading O&G Services Company with a 90 year history. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in pursuing a Master’s, or PhD degree from an accredited College or University.
  • Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited College or University for the duration of the internship assignment pursuing a degree in Engineering, Science, or Computer Science.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work in the city of the posting location without relocation assistance.
  • Strong understanding of: Reservoir engineering fundamentals Hydraulic fracturing and stimulation concepts Production forecasting and decline analysis Rock and fluid properties
  • Demonstrated programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python MATLAB C++ Julia C#

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing numerical methods and engineering calculations in code.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and refactor legacy or poorly documented codebases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with fracture modeling or proppant transport modeling, preferred.
  • Familiarity with scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, or similar).
  • Experience with web frameworks and modern UI development.
  • Experience with database design and backend development, preferred.
  • Familiarity with data visualization frameworks.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices: Version control (Git) Unit testing Code reviews Documentation standards
  • Exposure to reservoir simulation or completion design software.
  • Experience working with large technical datasets, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, document, and understand existing legacy software logic, workflows, and calculation methods.
  • Review documented code and engineering references to verify equations and model assumptions.
  • Translate petroleum engineering models and equations into efficient, production-quality code.
  • Improve numerical stability, performance, and scalability of engineering algorithms.
  • Redesign core tools with a modern web-based user interface.
  • Develop data input/output pipelines for well, reservoir, and completion parameters.
  • Create clear technical documentation covering software architecture, equations, and workflows.
  • Support UI, reporting, and visualization enhancements.
  • Present progress, validation results, and technical findings to engineering and management teams.
