Performs a full range of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.

  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings and activities to support progress improvement and team building.
  • Participates in planning and implementing change, maintaining and improving high quality, cost effective department operations.
  • Performs a full range of PET procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and ultimate treatment of patients.
  • Plans and performs diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures to produce medical images and information for the diagnosis or treatment of patients meeting the quality standards of the department as identified through professional literature and department protocol, policy and procedure.
  • Maintains professional and technical competencies as required by the organization, the accreditation and licensing bodies (where applicable).
  • Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff in accordance with WVU Radiation Safety Department policy, procedure and guidelines as well as State, Federal, The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification using identified communication mechanisms to ensure the performance of radiology services.
  • Assesses patients needs related to comfort, hygiene and range of motion and provides support accordingly.
  • Performs as a clinical and/or didactic instructor meeting the quality standards of the radiology education program(s) as identified through professional literature, department and radiology education program(s) protocol, policy and procedure.
  • Current Nuclear Medicine license through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed.
  • Current Radiologic Technologist license through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed (excluding Pennsylvania).
  • Must be registered (or registry eligible) by the ARRT or NMTCB as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. If registry eligible, must pass boards within six months of hire.
  • State licensure as an RT (CT) or successful passing of the CT Fusion Imaging exam as required by the state.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • Diagnostic CT certification.
