About The Position

Oneida Health is currently seeking a Full-time PET/CT technologist to work 4 10-hour shifts with no call requirements or holidays to work the day shift in our Hospital's Radiology Department. In this position, you will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals while utilizing special training in the safe use of radioactive materials, sophisticated imaging equipment, and knowledge to deliver exceptional care to patients of all ages. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and able to work independently in a supportive team environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Graduate of an AMA school of Nuclear Medicine (Required)
  • Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT or CNMT) or board eligible (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Following protocols to perform Nuclear Medicine and PET scans in a safe manner.
  • Determining under the guidance of the Radiologist, the appropriate dosage and type of radionuclide necessary for the completion of the exam.
  • Ordering (within Radioactive Materials License limitations), preparing, administering, and measuring radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of diagnostic equipment.
  • Properly receiving, storing, and disposing of radioactive materials according to the NYS Sanitary Code instructions for ionizing radiation.
  • Preparing stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculating dosages.
  • Administering radiopharmaceuticals orally, intravenously, or intradermally.
  • Detecting and mapping radiopharmaceuticals in patients’ bodies producing computer images, and recording and processing results of exams.
  • Calculating, measuring, and recording radiation dosage of radionuclides received, used, and disposed of.
  • Utilizing knowledge of Radiation Safety Procedures to maintain exposure levels that are as low as reasonably achievable (ALRA) for both the technologist and patients.
  • Using keen observation skills to monitor patient's well-being during exams, recognize patient discomfort or medical problems, and take appropriate action.
  • Having a customer service attitude to guide patients through the process, explaining the steps of the process to them, and answering their questions and concerns.
  • Being a diligent record keeper to ensure that information is recorded in the appropriate manner.
  • Operating equipment consistent with standard usage guidelines and techniques.
  • Maintaining a safe and appropriate work area as well as an inventory of supplies.
