About The Position

The PET/CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality PET/CT imaging studies in accordance with established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role supports accurate diagnosis and patient care through precise imaging, safe radiopharmaceutical handling, and clear communication with radiologists, staff, and patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through: o ARRT (N) or o NMTCB
  • Eligible to work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the State of Michigan, in compliance with Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requirements
  • Demonstrated PET/CT competency, including radiopharmaceutical handling and PET imaging protocols
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety regulations, ALARA principles, and infection control standards
  • Ability to meet all federal, state, and accrediting body requirements applicable to PET/CT imaging (including ACR standards)

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT (PET) certification
  • Prior PET/CT experience in an outpatient imaging environment
  • Oncology-focused PET imaging experience
  • CT certification (ARRT (CT)) strongly preferred but not required
  • Experience supporting ACR accreditation and quality assurance initiatives
  • Familiarity with ACR accreditation standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform PET/CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and RMI protocols
  • Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation safety standards
  • Operate PET/CT equipment safely and accurately to produce diagnostic-quality images
  • Verify patient identity, review clinical history, and ensure exam appropriateness prior to scanning
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, responding appropriately to patient needs or adverse reactions
  • Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety, ALARA principles, and infection control standards
  • Communicate clearly with radiologists regarding exam findings, protocol questions, or imaging concerns
  • Ensure accurate documentation in RIS/PACS and patient records
  • Maintain PET/CT equipment quality control, daily checks, and required logs
  • Participate in accreditation requirements (ACR), audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care at all times
  • Experience with Siemens gamma camera preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience with GE Omni PET/CT scanner preferred but not necessary.
  • Attendance at meetings and training sessions may be required. These sessions could occasionally be scheduled outside of your regular working hours to accommodate business needs and training opportunities.
