About The Position
The Pet Care Assistant plays a crucial role in the veterinary medical team, ensuring that pets receive the highest quality of medical care in a friendly and efficient environment. This position is designed to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages clients to return and refer their friends and families. The Pet Care Assistant is responsible for preparing treatment rooms, maintaining the flow of service, and providing client education regarding preventive care and wellness plans. They also support the veterinary team by holding or restraining pets during examinations and treatments, preparing laboratory tests, and monitoring the comfort of hospitalized patients. The role requires a commitment to cleanliness and organization within the hospital, including the surgical suite and treatment areas, as well as performing various housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. In addition to these responsibilities, the Pet Care Assistant must demonstrate strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a client service orientation. They are expected to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude, even in stressful situations. The position may require working beyond 40 hours a week, including weekends and evenings, to meet the needs of clients and pets. The Pet Care Assistant must be comfortable working with a variety of animals and be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving pets and equipment. Overall, this role is essential in supporting the veterinary team and ensuring a high standard of care for pets and their owners.
