About The Position

As the Pesticide Recertification Safety Educator , you provide program management and leadership for Washington pesticide continuing education recertification courses for pesticide applicators. You serve as the lead in developing, updating, and delivering pesticide recertification internet courses, ensuring content is current, accurate, and accessible to meet recertification requirements. Additional Information: This is a full time (100 % FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on May 15, 2027 . Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Monthly Salary: $4,580 - $6,092 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Master's degree in entomology, weed science, plant pathology, IPM , environmental science, or related field.
  • Experience in education or research in the following areas: pesticide recertification training, integrated vegetation management, or insect or disease, regulations, or stewardship programs.
  • Washington State Department of Agriculture Public Operator License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Experience with pesticide safety education or adult education.
  • Demonstrated grantsmanship and experience managing budgets.
  • Experience with computer software, including desktop publishing and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using and troubleshooting a wide variety of audiovisual equipment.
  • Experience in producing video and multimedia presentations.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Demonstrated Spanish language skills: oral and written.
