About The Position

The Presidio Trust is seeking a Pest Control Technician to join its Buildings Department. The Presidio Trust is a unique federal agency that stewards and shares the Presidio, one of the most visited national park sites in America and a place where people live and businesses thrive. Reporting to the Trade Supervisor, the Pest Control Technician assists with landscape and structural pest control to maintain the Presidio Trust spaces in a safe, sanitary, and environmentally conscientious manner. This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting at $32.79 per hour, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position is included in a bargaining unit, specifically the Laborers International Union of North America, Local 792, United Public Employees of California. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and Three (3) years experience in the field of commercial and residential pest control.
  • Valid State of California Class C Driver License.
  • California Structural Pest Control Board Structural Pest Control Applicator License (Branch 2) or equivalent.
  • Must obtain California Department of Pesticide Regulation Pest Control Applicators Certificate (Category B) and/or complete Laws and Regulations exam within one (1) year of hire.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing pest control operations; functions, qualities, and characteristics of pesticides; climate, insects, plant diseases and other conditions affecting growth of vegetation and/or plants in the local area.
  • Use and application of equipment and tools used for pest control, principles and practices of work safety.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes meeting quality standards for services, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb ladders.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Apply the principles of the Presidio Trust Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program and a variety of techniques including physical, chemical, mechanical, and biological methods to control unwanted landscape and structural pests including weeds, insects, vermin, gophers and other rodents and animals.
  • Inspect and monitor landscape areas, buildings, other areas, and structures to identify pest problems, source of infestation, extent of damage and access for control of problem pest.
  • Maintain work records including daily work reports and work order time and materials.
  • Respond as appropriate to requests, questions, comments and concerns from the public, residents, tenants, and Presidio staff using principles of customer service; reports any problems or issues to Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
