About The Position

The Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction of students with significant disabilities; observing and documenting student progress; implementing plans for instruction; and assisting students by providing for special health care needs and monitoring student behavior.

Responsibilities

Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs and developing children's daily living activities and behavioral skills.
Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students getting on and off the school bus for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety.
Provides support for the physical needs of students with disabilities, including toileting, feeding, lifting, transferring, mobility assistance, and personal hygiene, in accordance with individual care plans and safety protocols.
Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, and meeting mandated requirements.
Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive school environment.
Participates in the implementation of IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and district benchmarks.
Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned teacher.
Provides adapted classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of student progress.
Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems, providing information, and directing to other sources.
Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments.
Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District.
Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model.
