About The Position

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires the individual to perform a broad range of activities and duties needing full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. The position requires corrected vision, speech and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Requires seated work at a desk, including use of a computer, and the ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The position also requires the ability to drive and occasionally requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. PRINCIPLE DUTIES Communicate and promote the YMCA Mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers and the community at large. Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled working hours. Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member satisfaction Assists all fitness staff to ensure proper implementation of fitness programs Provide members with ActiveTrax Orientations. Responsible for recruiting new personal training clients and managing existing clients Provides consistent member involvement activities for new and existing members. Act as a liaison for members and YMCA Directors. Assists Fitness Supervisor in organizing special events at the branch and other locations as deemed necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment Responsible for following scheduled appointments. Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the branch Fitness Supervisor

Requirements

  • Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its programs.
  • Ability to see that all business and safety records and procedures set up by the corporation are completed accurately within the defined time schedule.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain all personal certifications needed to serve in this position.
  • Ability to interpret as well as adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and utilize initiative, ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Work to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, etc.
  • Demonstrated record of individual development
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Current CPR and nationally accredited Personal Trainer certification
  • Able to work as a team builder/member
