About The Position

Teaches scheduled classes and or personal training sessions beginning and ending on time, provides adequate warm‐up, exercises, stretching, and cool down; Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises; Identifies muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles; Prepares appropriate equipment, and music for participants; Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for the class participants; Keeps management informed of participant and facility needs; Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to; While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally will work with various types of fitness equipment; The noise level in the work environment is generally loud within the facility and while performing duties. Data entry and light computer work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of education and fitness knowledge
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles
  • Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and incorporation of music, temp technique, and rhythm
  • Choreography and music skills
  • Ability to be professional and motivate class participants
  • Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members
  • Current CPR/AED certified; or acquired within 2 months of employment
  • Must have and hold a current group fitness or a specialized national certification from an accredited organization (ACSM, AFAA, ACE, NSCA, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, ACSM or NASM Personal Training certification, 2 plus years of experience teaching group fitness classes and or personal training.
