Personal Support Specialists (PSS) provide hands-on assistance with daily living for older adults with functional limitations and people with disabilities. PSSs provide services related to a member's physical requirements for assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). A PSS provides these services according to an authorized plan of care, which can be different depending on where and who they are working with.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Personal Support Specialist Certification or willingness to be trained as a PSS
  • Experience with or desire to care for older adults and/or chronically ill individuals
  • Focus on high-level customer service
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent, resident-centered personal care including assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
  • Assist with meal service, laundry, housekeeping, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Create a caring environment as part of a clinical team, focusing on providing personal support to residents in an Assisted Living environment.
