The Personal Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring that adults with disabilities are provided with opportunities to be meaningfully engaged and centered in the community. This role involves creating experiences that promote individuals' interests, choices, and personal growth, assisting them in discovering and pursuing new interests, and helping them have control over their daily lives. The specialist will assist individuals in planning their daily/weekly schedules, inform the team of schedule changes, and ensure that individuals are on time for scheduled activities. Additionally, the role includes teaching skills for increased independence, facilitating the development of meaningful relationships, and assisting individuals in broadening their awareness and use of community resources. The specialist will also develop and implement individual plans, promote self-advocacy, and support individuals in living a healthy lifestyle.
