About The Position

About this position: Lake Michigan Insurance Agency (LMIA), part of Lake Michigan Credit Union, is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven individual for the Personal Lines Insurance Sales position to support the growth of our personal insurance portfolio. This role focuses on building trusted relationships with members and prospects, providing tailored insurance solutions, and delivering exceptional service that aligns with LMIA’s commitment to helping members protect what matters most. The ideal candidate enjoys consultative sales, values long-term relationships over transactional selling, and thrives in a collaborative environment with strong referral partnerships.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year up to three years of insurance sales, financial services, or related customer-facing experience.
  • College degree is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Attendance at sales, relationship-building, or professional development seminars is a plus.
  • Active Property & Casual license required, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience with AMS360 or similar agency management systems is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Consultative sales mindset with a focus on client needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to network and build referral partnerships
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development Develop and maintain relationships with prospective members through self-generated leads and referrals from local LMCU branch partners.
  • Network with community professionals and referral sources to expand LMIA’s presence and generate new business opportunities.
  • Utilize LMIA and LMCU marketing resources to support lead generation and brand awareness.
  • Prepare and present personalized insurance proposals that clearly demonstrate the value of LMIA and its coverage options.
  • Establish LMIA as a trusted insurance advisor for LMCU members and community clients.
  • Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary insurance point of contact for assigned LMCU branch(es).
  • Maintain and grow an existing book of business by providing proactive, high-quality service.
  • Identify cross-sell and coverage review opportunities to ensure clients’ insurance needs are met as life circumstances change.
  • Ensure timely follow-up, policy servicing, and client communication to support retention and satisfaction.
  • Collaboration & Compliance Work closely with agency leadership and LMCU branch teams to support shared goals.
  • Ensure all sales and service activities comply with insurance regulations and agency standards.
  • Accurately document client interactions, policies, and changes within agency management systems.
