About The Position

Hinds' Feet Farm, Inc. is hiring a caring and compassionate person to provide 1:1 caregiving support in Huntersville, NC. As our full-time Personal Direct Support Professional - DSP, you'll assist a male brain injury survivor with self-care tasks and help foster his independence. Requirements

  • 21+ years old
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Good Health Care Personnel Registry standing
  • Professional history free of abuse and/or neglect
  • Valid driver's license, insured personal vehicle, clean driving record, and 4+ years of driving experience
  • High school degree or GED
  • Compassionate, understanding, and culturally aware mentality
  • Comfort with providing 1:1 support
  • Sympathetic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of basic physical/psychological needs and health/safety procedures
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training regarding brain injuries and best practices
  • Ability to follow all NC DHHS regulations, confidentiality rules, and organizational policies
  • Ability to complete assigned trainings within 30 days
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to stay positive and professional throughout the workday
  • Ability to use computers and office equipment
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening test.

Responsibilities

  • Personal hygiene, grooming, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other self-care activities
  • Emotional support, socialization, and community engagement
  • Recreational, professional, and educational activities
  • Transportation to appointments and programs
  • Team collaboration and ongoing communication (supervisors, case managers, family members, etc.)
  • Client supervision, crisis intervention, and detailed documentation
  • Work with the treatment team to achieve the best outcomes for the client, collaborating as needed to adjust processes and meet goals.
