About The Position

ARRCS is seeking multiple experienced and qualified Personal Care Workers to provide clinical care to residents and home care consumers. This role is based at the Aged Care Facility Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura in Pukatja, South Australia's APY Lands, and also supports home care consumers in surrounding communities including Pipalyatjara, Mimili, Kaltjiti, Iwantja, and Amata. The position is permanent, full-time, working 38 hours per week, with an annual salary ranging from $72,292 to $75,472, depending on experience. Visa sponsorship is not available. The ideal candidate will possess care and compassion, enjoy interacting with residents, and have prior experience in aged care or disability support. They should demonstrate professionalism, a strong work ethic, and ensure high standards of care and wellbeing for residents, working under the supervision of senior nursing staff when necessary. Requirements

  • Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher qualification or equivalent in Aged Care, Disability or Individual Care (minimum course duration 6 months) or 2 years or work experience to substitute for the formal qualification.
  • Evidence of at least 120 hours practical experience within the training completed.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience (post qualification) undertaken in the last 3 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the activities of daily living in an Aged Care setting.
  • Demonstrated effective and clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage and work within a culturally diverse team environment.
  • An ability to undertake a range of manual handling functions relevant to the role.
  • Proof of or willing to obtain NDIS Workers Screening Check.
  • Proof of or willing to obtain National Police Check (dated within 3 months).
  • Proof of or willing to obtain Current year Flu Vaccination.
  • Proof of or willing to obtain First Aid (within 3 years).
  • Proof of or willing to obtain CPR (within 12 months).

Responsibilities

  • Support the clinical care of residents and home care consumers.
  • Assist the person with activities of daily living.
  • Encourage independence with showering and toileting as required.
  • Encourage independence with dressing and undressing as required.
  • Encourage independence with transfers and general mobility within and outside the health service as required.
  • Encourage independence with sensory communication needs.
  • Encourage independence with daily exercise program.
  • Provision of ongoing long-term support to residents suffering from irreversible dementia or psychiatric conditions as diagnosed by a medical professional.
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of meals.
  • Liaise with Leisure and Lifestyle coordinator to support and encourage participation in independent and/or organized activities.
  • Assist with washing of resident’s personal laundry.
  • Ensure individual care plans are followed for all residents/patients/clients.
