As a Personal Care Giver, you will be responsible for providing direct care for residents who are cognitively, emotionally, and functionally impaired. You will guide or assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without assistance, fostering at all times the residents independence, dignity, and freedom of choice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior geriatric nursing assistance care and dementia care experience preferred
  • Must show proof of successful completion and certification of a Texas Food Handlers Program or successfully complete within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Assistant Certification, as well as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator, and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with each scheduled program activity, participates in all activities, and provides support and encouragement to residents during same; assists and encourages family members who may wish to participate.
  • Utilizes appropriate established techniques, prompts, and cues when interacting with residents.
  • Monitors residents with swallowing precautions and promptly reports any problems encountered to Supervisor.
  • Provides direct resident assistance with activities of personal care, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Assists with the fitting and adjustment of adaptive equipment including visual and auditory aids.
  • Assists residents with dining activities including household skills and serving meals.
