About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities or medical needs in a school environment. This role focuses on helping students participate fully in daily school activities by assisting with personal care, mobility, and basic health-related tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of relevant experience
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to assist with lifting, transfers, and extended standing
- Must pass background checks and required clearances
- Basic computer skills for documentation
Nice To Haves
- CNA/PCA/HHA certification preferred
- school or pediatric setting preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care such as toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene
- Support mobility and positioning using adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, braces)
- Perform basic health-related tasks under nurse supervision (e.g., feeding support, monitoring conditions)
- Accompany students during classes, transitions, and school activities
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and student progress
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and healthcare staff to follow care and education plans
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by following hygiene and safety protocols
