About The Position

Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. The organization employs more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania. This role is for a proactive Personal Care Assistant (with the ability to administer medications) to join a friendly and dynamic residential team at the Williamstown Hostel on a Part Time, Fixed Term basis. The position involves fostering a warm and supportive environment for residents and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Requirements

Ability to work both in team and autonomously
Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
Keen eye for detail
Excellent communication skills
The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
Successful applicants may be required to undergo a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Police Records check
Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check
Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before commencing employment, and must provide evidence

Responsibilities

Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
Providing emotional support to residents
