About The Position

Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. The organization employs more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania. This role is for a proactive Personal Care Assistant (with the ability to administer medications) to join a friendly and dynamic residential team at the Williamstown Hostel on a Part Time, Fixed Term basis. The position involves fostering a warm and supportive environment for residents and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Ability to work both in team and autonomously
  • Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
  • Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
  • Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
  • A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
  • Successful applicants may be required to undergo a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Police Records check
  • Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check
  • Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before commencing employment, and must provide evidence

Responsibilities

  • Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
  • To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
  • Providing emotional support to residents
