About The Position

Purpose of the Position The primary purpose of the Personal Care Aide (Activities) position is to assist residents with daily activity programming that promotes physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being, enabling residents to reach and maintain the highest level of functioning and quality of life. Full-time employees may elect to participate in the No-Frills Pay Program, which allows employees to opt out of company-provided benefits and paid time off in exchange for an additional $2.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Must possess, a minimum, 8th grade education
  • Desire to work with the geriatric population
  • Must possess if graduated a High school Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and the team concept
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of their individuals in the workplace
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other
  • Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the blood and/or body fluids
  • Must be willing to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Must perform all additional tasks assigned to you by supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of sanitation and infection control policies
  • Notify the Activity Director or Nursing Supervisor of changes in resident behavior or condition
  • Set up, lead, and assist with group and individual activity programs as assigned
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating the activity calendar
  • Provide activities based on resident preferences as outlined in assessments and care plans
  • Provide 1:1 activities for residents unable or unwilling to attend group programs
  • Ensure all activity supplies and materials are prepared and available prior to programs
  • Escort residents to and from activities and meals as needed
  • Document daily group and individual activity participation accurately
  • Complete baseline activity care plans for new residents
  • Take and upload resident photographs to the medical record
  • Attend all required in-service and mandatory training programs
  • Assist with special programs, events, and departmental fundraisers
  • Participate in themed dress days and special events
  • Distribute newspapers and resident mail; assist with reading mail when requested and document appropriately
  • Update daily activity boards and whiteboards
  • Maintain cleanliness of activity rooms, storage areas, and office spaces
  • Prepare activities in advance to ensure timely program start
  • Assist with distributing monthly activity calendars and birthday signage
  • Assist the receptionist with phone coverage as needed
  • Decorate and remove décor for holidays and seasonal events
  • Assist volunteers as needed
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented attitude
