About The Position

CNAs and PCAs provide nonmedical service and assistance to a client in their home and community, who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, cannot perform these services. These services enable the client to remain in his/her residence. Therefore, the caregiver must feel comfortable caring for a client in a private home or setting. The Caregivers main objective is client satisfaction and safety for both oneself and for the client. The Caregiver must have sensitivity for the needs of others, a professional manner, and a positive attitude. Aides are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with the Agency polices, industry standards, and state regulations. Aides need to report on time to scheduled shift unless specific circumstances come up.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Must be able to provide services according to the care plan of the client.
  • Excellent customer service and listening skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write clear English.
  • Able to compute basic mathematics.
  • Able to pass background checks.
  • Able to pass drug screening.
  • Current drivers’ license.
  • Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents.
  • Valid vehicle insurance coverage and registration.
  • Must have, or obtain upon hire, current CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service to a client based on and limited to a client’s care plan.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
  • Provide excellent client care including assistance with ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, feeding, exercise, transferring, positioning, toileting, and incontinence care.
  • Remind clients to take medications.
  • Perform routine housekeeping activities such as making/changing bedding, dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, and laundry.
  • Provide companionship including social interactions, conversations, emotional reassurance, and encouragement of activities.
  • Assist clients with following written special diet plans.
  • Escort clients to medical facilities, errands, shopping, and outings as specified in the care plan.
  • Complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and direct hours of service.
  • Attend orientation, in-service training sessions, and staff meetings.
  • Report any incidents or accidents immediately to Supervisor.
