About The Position

As a Personal Banker at KeyBank, you will serve as a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to clients in KeyBank communities. This role involves engaging clients in deep conversations to understand their financial needs and provide guidance and solutions to support their financial wellness, both in person and through proactive calling efforts. You will be part of the branch team, focusing on attracting new clients and expanding relationships with existing ones based on their unique financial goals. The ideal candidate is client-first, sales-driven, self-motivated, and competitive, requiring strong teamwork, communication, and confidence. Essential functions include embodying a strong client experience culture, identifying financial wellness opportunities, consistently meeting individual goals, opening various personal and business accounts, developing partnerships with teammates and business partners, ensuring compliance with procedures, assisting with teller transactions, participating in huddles, and working Saturdays as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources.
  • Understanding of consumer credit - including loan to value, debt to income and credit reports.
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking.
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, as this role will require significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals.
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key.
  • Knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients’ financial wellness goals, leveraging system generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients including identifying potential clients, engaging with them to understand their needs, and developing strategies to convert them into long-term clients, and deepening relationships with existing clients by offering additional products and services that meet their evolving needs.
  • Attentiveness to client needs, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive banking experience.
  • Ability to evaluate financial information to understand clients' financial health, identify investment opportunities, and recommend strategies.
  • Understanding and managing risks associated with banking operations and client transactions.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to understand clients' needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
  • Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions.
  • Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Embody a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially.
  • Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during in-person and over the phone client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients.
  • Consistently attain individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations.
  • Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
  • Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners – focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship of current clients; effectively managing internal and external centers of influence.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Support branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  • Participate in and occasionally facilitate in-person morning huddles and end of day debriefs.
  • Work on Saturdays as directed by management.
