About The Position

Personal Bankers at KeyBank serve as problem solvers, trusted advisors, and partners to clients in KeyBank communities. They engage clients in deep conversations to understand their financial needs and provide guidance and solutions to improve financial wellness, both in person and through proactive calling. As part of the branch team, Personal Bankers are responsible for attracting new clients and expanding relationships with existing clients based on their unique financial goals, aiming to build client confidence in their finances. This role requires a client-first, sales-driven, self-motivated, and competitive individual with strong teamwork, communication, and confidence. Personal Bankers listen for financial wellness opportunities during interactions and provide customized recommendations, consistently working towards individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals. They open various personal and business accounts, develop partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners for client acquisition and relationship deepening, and manage internal and external centers of influence. The position also ensures compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures, including proper documentation of client interactions. Support for branch operations, such as assisting with client transactions on the Teller line, is required as needed. Participation in and occasional facilitation of in-person morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs are also part of the role. Personal Bankers are expected to work on Saturdays as directed by management and perform other assigned duties, while complying with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally, ethically, and in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent business experience.
  • 1+ years Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources.
  • Experience with sales is more important than financial services experience.
  • Understanding of consumer credit - including loan to value, debt to income and credit reports.
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking.
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, as this role will require significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals.
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key.
  • Is knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients’ financial wellness goals, leveraging system generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with clients including identifying potential clients, engaging with them to understand their needs, and developing strategies to convert them into long-term clients. It also includes deepening relationships with existing clients by offering additional products and services that meet their evolving needs.
  • Being attentive to client needs, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive banking experience.
  • Ability to evaluate financial information to understand clients' financial health, identify investment opportunities, and recommend strategies.
  • Understanding and managing risks associated with banking operations and client transactions.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to understand clients' needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
  • Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions.
  • Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.

  • Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Support branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.

  • Work on Saturdays as directed by management.

Benefits

  • This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $20.67 - $31.25 per hour.
  • Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
