About The Position

The position involves providing exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement. The role requires engaging customers with friendly and professional service, educating them about all bank products and services, and cross-selling various offerings. The candidate will analyze customer needs, recommend appropriate products, and assist with opening new accounts, including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, and IRAs. Additionally, the role includes discussing and selling loan products to both existing and prospective customers, as well as promoting online and mobile banking capabilities. The candidate will also be responsible for meeting customer expectations, achieving service quality standards, and participating in the sales referral process. The position requires maintaining and balancing a cash box, utilizing technology effectively, and acting as a Vault Teller to ensure adequate branch cash for daily transactions. Community involvement and compliance with the Bank's Code of Conduct are also essential aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer service, retail sales, hospitality, or similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions regarding customer transactions.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong Customer Service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Business services experience in branch banking.
  • Knowledge of branch operations or completion of a Valley Retail training program.
  • Experience with FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement.

  • Analyze customer financial needs and recommend appropriate products.
  • Meet with customers to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Open new accounts including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, and IRAs.

  • Perform all transactions required by customers and maintain a balanced cash box.
  • Utilize technology such as Teller Scanning Equipment and Cash Recycling machines.
  • Act as Vault Teller and manage branch cash for daily transactions.
  • Assist in community events and support CRA initiatives.
  • Report significant matters and unusual customer activity to management.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank's Code of Conduct and policies.
