About The Position

The Personal Banker at Valley National Bank is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support for sales and service activities within the banking office. This role involves developing new business by educating clients about banking products and services, performing routine banking transactions, and assisting the Market Manager in achieving service quality standards. The Personal Banker will engage with customers to analyze their financial needs and recommend appropriate banking solutions while ensuring compliance with operational procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 1 year of business services experience in branch banking.
• Knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and high accuracy.
• Proficient computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Associates or Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement.
• Engage customers with friendly and professional service.
• Educate and demonstrate bank products and services to customers.
• Analyze customer needs and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
• Meet with customers to maximize sales opportunities and offer bank products.
• Open new accounts such as checking, savings, and IRAs.
• Discuss and sell loan products to existing and prospective customers.
• Maintain and balance a cash box and perform all required transactions.
• Act as Vault Teller and manage branch cash for daily transactions.
• Assist in community events and support CRA initiatives.
• Report significant matters and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
