About the position

The Person In Charge role at SpartanNash is responsible for directing and coordinating store operations in the absence of higher management. This position ensures optimal efficiency and economy of operations, contributing to the financial success of the store. The individual will oversee associates, handle customer concerns, and maintain store standards while adhering to company policies and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor associate's adherence to company policies.
  • Run cashier register and courtesy counter desk, handling customer concerns efficiently.
  • Understand and be familiar with store layout and safety equipment locations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all areas, providing feedback to department managers.
  • Responsible for time clock maintenance in the absence of the Store Director or specified department manager.
  • May close the store, including locking doors and turning off lights.
  • Assist customers by knowing product locations in the store.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked store.
  • Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines.
  • Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations.
  • Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (preferred).
  • One year of retail or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products.
  • Detail Oriented.
