About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) at Safeway serves as the primary contact for customers, providing friendly and helpful service. This role assumes responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers, making decisions to ensure efficient operations and superior customer service. The PIC supervises store employees, assists with various tasks, and acts as a Cashier-Checker, ensuring a clean and safe environment while handling customer transactions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers effectively.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer and within company policy.
• Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee or customer accidents.
• Supervise all store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Managers.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Monitor service and replenishment of products on the sales floor.
• Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assist cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers' final bill.
• Receive payment for customer purchases and provide correct change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out when necessary.
• Complete close of day functions in the office as required.
• Count tills and out of stock products when necessary.
