About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) at Safeway serves as the primary contact for customers, providing exceptional service and overseeing store operations in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Managers. This role involves making critical decisions to ensure the store operates efficiently and profitably, supervising employees, and handling customer interactions, particularly during evening shifts.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Prior experience as a clerk or manager is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer and within company policy.
• Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee or customer accidents.
• Supervise all store personnel during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Managers.
• Monitor service and replenishment of products on the sales floor.
• Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assist cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers' final bill.
• Receive payment for customer purchases and provide correct change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out when necessary.
• Complete close of day functions in the office as required.
• Count out of stock products and tills when necessary.
