Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling techniques (telephone, in-store announcements, one‑on‑one interaction).
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and elevate to Store Director as needed.
  • Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
  • Assist with planning daily operations, monitoring production processes, and ensuring profitability according to company procedures.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, rotated, and maintained for cleanliness and quality.
  • Build promotional and seasonal displays; assist in coordinating grocery sales promotions.
  • Maintain department standards and requirements, including correct code dating for all products.
  • Control shrink, cost, and inventory to ensure correct quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Assist with ordering Grocery products per Division directives; supervise reclamation processing and maintain organized back‑room conditions.
  • Implement proper product preparation techniques and operate related equipment (pallet jack, hand truck, cutters, scissors, knives, Sterilox machine).
  • Monitor employee productivity and ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train employees in store policies, sales processes, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities during meetings as needed.
  • Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect product quality, report shortages, and rotate stock.
  • Adhere to temperature standards, storage guidelines, and correct packaging techniques.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every six months.
  • Maintain accurate department records, daily log sheets, sales and labor documentation, and other required paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal/state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.
  • Maintain proper temperature levels for all products.
  • Ensure the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area, equipment, cooler, and displays.
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Implement emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering systems to order product.
  • Process administrative paperwork accurately and maintain required logs and compliance records.
  • Ensure compliance with company grooming and dress code standards.
  • Perform all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
