About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) at Safeway is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and managing the Front End operations in the absence of store management. This role involves supervising store employees, handling customer interactions, and making operational decisions to maximize efficiency and profitability.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within company policy.
• Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee or customer accidents.
• Supervise all store personnel during the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Directors.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Monitor service and replenishment of products on the sales floor.
• Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assist cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers' final bill.
• Receive payment for customer purchases and count back correct change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out when necessary.
• Complete close of day functions in the office and count tills when necessary.
