About the position

The Persistence Pathways Advisor at KIPP Massachusetts is a vital member of the KIPP Forward team, responsible for supporting the post-secondary persistence of KIPP alumni. This role involves advising students and families on various post-secondary options, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and preparation to succeed. The advisor will utilize a holistic approach to help alumni identify and develop their strengths and opportunities, aiming to achieve a 75% post-secondary program completion rate for 8th grade completers.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the KIPP Forward team to execute the KIPP Forward Persistence framework for post-secondary support.
  • Advise alumni on navigating college campuses, financial aid, and socio-emotional support.
  • Travel to meet with alumni on their campuses for approximately 50% of the time each month.
  • Execute benchmark assessments to identify persistence threats and create support plans.
  • Maintain student records and data requirements, including weekly trackers and Salesforce updates.
  • Support the development and implementation of KIPP Forward initiatives to ensure progress on college persistence factors.
  • Connect students to necessary tools and resources for postsecondary persistence.
  • Advise students through the transfer process when applicable.
  • Advise families to aid in the persistence of alumni, considering FERPA regulations.
  • Collaborate with KIPP Forward team members to execute programming and initiatives for persistence pathways.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of professional experience working with youth from diverse populations and underserved communities.
  • Outstanding project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with higher education access and success for low-income, first-generation, and minority students.
  • Ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and listen deeply to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associates Degree or 60 hours equivalent required.

Benefits

  • Minimum base salary range of $55,000-$65,000 with a $1,000 signing bonus.
  • Annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other bonuses when eligible.
