About The Position

A Permitting and Compliance Coordinator in construction plays a crucial role in ensuring that a construction project complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards. Their responsibilities typically include: Permitting: Research and Application: Identify and research the required permits for the construction project, which may include building permits, environmental permits, zoning permits, etc. Application Process: Prepare and submit permit applications to the appropriate regulatory agencies, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate. Communication: Liaise with local authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate the permitting process and address any issues that may arise. Compliance Monitoring: Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about and interpret relevant construction laws, codes, and regulations to ensure the project complies with all applicable standards. Davis-Bacon and Section 3 Compliance: Monitor and implement requirements related to the Davis-Bacon Act (prevailing wages on federal construction projects) and Section 3 (economic opportunities for low-income individuals) as applicable. Contractual Compliance: Ensure that the construction project adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in contracts, including compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Documentation and Reporting: Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all permits, approvals, and compliance-related documents. Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports to internal and external stakeholders, detailing the status of permits, compliance efforts, and any issues that need attention. Problem Resolution: Issue Identification: Identify and address any compliance issues that may arise during the construction process. Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to develop and implement corrective actions to resolve compliance-related challenges. Training and Communication: Education: Provide training and guidance to project team members on compliance requirements and procedures. Communication: Act as a liaison between different parties involved in the project, facilitating clear communication regarding compliance matters. Adaptation to Changes: Regulatory Changes: Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards that may impact the construction project, and adapt compliance strategies accordingly. A Permitting and Compliance Coordinator is essential in maintaining the project's legal and ethical standards, promoting a smooth construction process, and mitigating risks associated with non-compliance. Additional Responsibilities: Maintain Documents in Procore Prepare Walk Through and Closing Packets on all homes Update the Permitting Tracker daily or as needed Complete OFAC Checks on Construction Vendors Annually Update all Vendor Insurance Documents Annually and update in Procore Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Must have experience in residential home construction permitting
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal, state and local procurement, contracting, and reporting preferred
