About The Position

Building inspection and permitting customer service, process online permit applications, and maintain contractor files. Provide customer service to general public, industry professionals and City staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of administrative experience or related area
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • One plus years of post-secondary education
  • Knowledge of municipal government and the development field

Responsibilities

  • Receives the public, providing customer assistance to filling out permit applications, checks for accuracy and completeness; invoices and processes payments
  • Submits plans to the appropriate authority for approval
  • Responds to frequent telephone, e-mail, or in person inquiries regarding construction or building permit requirements, statuses, fees, and inspections
  • Checks sources to ensure that person doing electrical, plumbing work are properly licensed
  • Receives payments for permits, posts payments, and balances receipts
  • Runs various reports for the department and responds to public inquiries
  • Maintains accurate files on construction permits
  • Accountable for inventory / property management
  • Makes recommendations that impact the budget
  • Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
