Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Permit Manager. The right candidate will oversee all aspects of permits, plan packages and architecture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license
  • General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to balance competing deadlines
  • Superb interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management and personnel
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university a plus
  • Experience working in JD Edwards a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the timely preparation and submission of individual lot building permits
  • Coordinate all permit submittals
  • Plan preparation
  • Facilitate communication with architects
  • Develop department overhead budget
  • Interface with all municipal governing bodies, public utilities and industry associations
  • Oversee the field operation and production times that the homes are ready for homeowner orientations and occupancy
  • Set build times on each plan and provide schedules to meet the build times
  • Review vendor surveys each month before they are sent out
  • Visit job sites periodically and enforce policies
  • Develop professional relationships within local government offices
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Supervises 2 or more employees
