Responsible for permit administration for the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Responsibilities
Reviews permit applications for Sign Permits and Right-of-Way Permits, and inputs data into permitting database; Issues permits as authorized.
Assists with issuing Development Permits according to County regulations.
Maintains and utilizes the NFIP Flood Insurance Rate Maps.
Assists the public, contractors and requesting parties with permitting rules and regulations.
Coordinates permit inspection activity with County inspection staff.
Interacts with the Development division on platting and land sub-dividing issues.
Manages permit fee collection and reporting and prepares the weekly permit collection money deposits to the County Treasury.
Prepares monthly financial reports that are compliant with County Auditor requirements.
Accepts payment for permit fees and all other authorized fees.
Communicates directly with CenterPoint Energy to resolve power-release issues.
Assists the public on how to navigate the online permitting system.
Assists and/or instructs employees with their duties.
Recommends selection of new employees and other employment actions for subordinates.
Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Requirements
Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field; (4 years of directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.)
5 years of job related experience (in addition to experience required to meet the knowledge requirement.)
Good computer and mathematical skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
Ability to read and understand construction plans, topography and geological surface forms.
Organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner; ability to understand civil engineering technology.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
