About The Position

The Permanent Substitute Teacher supervises students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class. Their duties include managing classroom behavior, quickly interpreting lesson plans and creating reports to inform the students' permanent teacher of their progress. When not needed in the classroom, the Permanent Substitute could be asked to perform other duties at the school including office/clerical work or student supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in an order of importance. the omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Functions as the teacher of record in the instance of a long term absence of a teacher. Responds promptly to cell phone, text, or email communications from the Student Services office regarding their availability for substitute assignments. Reports to the Student Services’ office on the day of the assignment no later than 7:20 AM or at the time designated. Parks in the faculty parking spot designated. Receives schedule, lesson plans, and key(s) for the substitute assignment. Follows the instructions in the lesson plans and collects student assignments as directed. Administers tests and quizzes and maintains classroom order. Adheres to BMC Faculty and Student Handbook policies and procedures. Follows the instructions in the lesson plans and collects student assignments as directed. Assists the Student Services office during planning periods or free periods. Performs campus duties that are assigned to the teacher they are replacing. Monitors student behavior. Attends Liturgies or campus-wide gatherings as directed.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass Diocesan Safe Environment Training and Background Screening process.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
  • Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
  • Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
