About The Position

Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) invites applications for a Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisor to support the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education grant. This position promotes CTE pathways, advises dual enrollment (DE) students, and builds partnerships with high schools, industry, and the community, with a focus on high‑demand programs such as Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training. The advisor will lead recruitment, outreach, and student success efforts across the Kenai Peninsula. Responsibilities include promoting CTE programs to students, parents, partners, and communities; developing strong relationships with high school counselors, CTE teachers, homeschool representatives, and industry partners; and visiting schools and rural sites to recruit DE students for certifications such as the State of Alaska Nurse Aide. The advisor collaborates with the DE Advisor on required paperwork and represents KPC at events including the Alaska CTE Conference and Industry Appreciation Day. In academic advising, the advisor provides comprehensive guidance to DE students, monitors progress toward graduation and CTE goals, offers proactive support for at‑risk students, and educates students and families on policies and long‑term benefits. The role uses appropriate retention and success tools and maintains strict FERPA compliance. Administrative duties include managing a student caseload, maintaining confidential records, and partnering with KPC Administrative Services on Perkins grant processes and distribution. The position supports occasional evening and weekend events, such as orientations and recruitment fairs, and requires local travel to schools and rural sites. This is a 9‑month, grant‑funded contract aligned with the academic year, typically August through May; the contract is inactive during the summer. The ideal candidate has training in education and career guidance for high school‑aged students and experience advising teens on career pathways. An understanding of Kenai Peninsula workforce needs and the ability to communicate effectively with students and guardians are essential, along with strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web applications. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with KPC's CTE course offerings and with UA systems such as UAOnline, Banner, and Navigate360, as well as Alaska‑specific tools including AKCIS and Career Coach.
