About The Position

The role of a Perishables Clerk at GEISSLERS SUPERMARKET INC is to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service by executing operational and merchandising tasks across all perishable departments. This position requires cross-training to assist in various departments, including the meat department, to maintain the quality and availability of perishable goods.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Previous Grocery Retail experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in providing quality customer service in a retail environment.
• Experience in performing operational and merchandising functions across various departments, particularly in perishables.
• Friendly demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow directions accurately.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capability to bend, stoop, and reach as required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases in all perishable departments.
• Perform merchandising functions to ensure shelves and displays are well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
• Assist in the meat department with tasks such as packaging, labeling, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the area.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations and a seamless customer experience across all perishable sections.
• Follow directions accurately to complete tasks as assigned by department supervisors or managers.
• Maintain attention to detail to ensure product quality and safety standards are met.
• Handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, reaching, and standing for extended periods to fulfill job duties effectively.
