About The Position

The Perioperative Environmental Service Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a sterile, safe, and clean surgical environment. The Perioperative Environmental Service Technician is responsible for keeping the Surgical Services Department clean and organized. This position ensures that all operating rooms, surgical suites, and related areas meet strict infection control and sanitation standards to support patient safety and efficient surgical operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect operating rooms before and after each procedure, including floors, walls, ceilings, surgical tables, lights, and equipment surfaces.
  • Cleans all assigned areas, including patient bays, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment following established procedures.
  • Safely collect, transport, and dispose of medical waste, sharps, and soiled linens according to hospital protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Removes trash from all assigned areas.
  • Replenish cleaning materials, linens, and other necessary items in OR suites and adjacent areas. Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to ensure adequate supply.
  • Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection prevention procedures to minimize contamination risks.
  • Clean and maintain housekeeping tools and equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
  • Assist in rapid turnover of ORs between surgeries to maintain surgical schedules.
  • Work closely with surgical staff, nurses, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Completion of annual required education (HealthStream).
