About The Position

The Business Intelligence Developer II works under general supervision and is responsible for activities related to developing reports, extracts, dashboards and other business intelligence tools for financial, operational or clinical information systems supporting the activities of Bronson Healthcare Group. This role requires a high emotional IQ, leadership qualities, and a passion for supporting personal and professional development. The position owns and governs perioperative analytics and reporting data across OR, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Pre-Op, PACU, Preadmission Testing, Sterile Processing, and Surgery Scheduling. It provides technical leadership for reporting tools, SQL development, and data visualization best practices within the perioperative analytics environment. The developer supports perioperative leadership and department stakeholders with standard and ad hoc reporting and operational initiatives through ad hoc analysis and dashboard development to monitor and trend key performance indicators. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience developing reports and SQL queries, as well as building dashboards and data models supporting financial, operational, or clinical information systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization
  • Working knowledge of healthcare operations
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to engage stakeholders individually and in small groups to gather requirements and design effective reports, dashboards, and data models
  • Consistently manages scope, timelines, and deliverables; takes ownership of issues through resolution; and communicates status and risks proactively
  • Expected to demonstrate leadership through accountability, influence, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current clinical licensure and/or certification (or progress toward completion), if applicable
  • Holds Epic data model certification (e.g., Inpatient, Ambulatory, etc.) or obtains certification within six months of hire
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Brings 3+ years developing and supporting reports and dashboards using relational databases and data warehouse technologies for financial, operational, or clinical systems
  • Partners with end users to define reporting requirements and translate data into actionable insights
  • Develops and maintains documentation, project artifacts, and end-user training materials
  • Applies healthcare operations knowledge and terminology to design and support BI solutions
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of BI solution design, development, deployment, support, and troubleshooting
  • Applies project management, change control, quality assurance, and performance monitoring practices
  • Owns and governs perioperative analytics and reporting data across OR, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Pre-Op, PACU, Preadmission Testing, Sterile Processing, and Surgery Scheduling
  • Provides technical leadership for reporting tools, SQL development, and data visualization best practices within the perioperative analytics environment

  • Supports operational initiatives (including BMS) through ad hoc analysis and dashboard development to monitor and trend key performance indicators
  • Applies knowledge of perioperative operations and key performance indicators to recommend and optimize business intelligence solutions
  • Partners with stakeholders to define reporting requirements and preferences and to ensure data consistency, integrity, and appropriate use
  • Develops and maintains reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders to support performance monitoring and operational decision-making
  • Analyzes and summarizes data to deliver actionable insights that improve service delivery, enhance revenue performance, and reduce costs
  • Performs data validation and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of source data and analytic models
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation supporting data acquisition, transformation, and delivery
  • Collaborates with IT partners and business stakeholders to review, test, pilot, and implement new business intelligence capabilities
  • Resolves routine and complex reporting issues and coordinates with IT, department users, system coordinators, and vendors to restore service and prevent recurrence
  • Maintains effective working relationships and regular communication with department users, system coordinators, IT partners, and vendors regarding analytics within the assigned domain
  • Supports the full system lifecycle (research, planning, installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades) for reporting and analytics solutions and evaluates current and proposed workflows to define data and reporting needs
  • Understands application specification options and their downstream impacts on data capture, reporting, and analytics
  • Assesses stakeholder preferences and operational workflows to inform data analysis approach, prioritization, and solution design
  • Evaluates new reporting and business intelligence functionality in system releases, recommends adoption based on operational value, and develops internal procedures to support analytics and reporting workflows
  • Partners with application builders to ensure required data elements are captured and available to support reporting and analytics
  • Stays current on business intelligence and data visualization trends; evaluates and recommends enhancements for adoption where appropriate
  • Evaluates reporting and development needs and recommends tools, platform enhancements, or additional resources to improve capability and performance
  • Responds to outages or periods of degraded performance by troubleshooting when possible and ensuring timely escalation and stakeholder communication
  • Serves as a subject expert and mentors Business Intelligence Developer I staff, providing guidance on standards, data definitions, and best practices
  • Leads or co-leads assigned system activities and small initiatives to deliver measurable outcomes
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of financial, operational, and clinical information systems related to reporting and business intelligence and maintains current knowledge of associated processes and dependencies
  • Maintains detailed working knowledge of financial, operational, and clinical information systems, including reporting capabilities and integrations with other Bronson systems
  • Participates in analysis, testing, and implementation of changes to automated and manual workflows affecting reporting and data extraction
  • Provides proactive support for reports, dashboards, and analytics and partners with system coordinators, key stakeholders, and leadership to prioritize enhancements and resolve issues
  • Conducts systems analysis and research to support continuous improvement of financial, operational, and clinical reporting and analytics
