The Perioperative Assistant is responsible for assisting the nurse in providing care to the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients during the perioperative phase of their hospitalization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous hospital experience.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer Patients/equipment.
  • BLS or CPR/AED training required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the professional staff in the Operating Rooms to facilitate surgical cases by maintaining supplies and equipment including carts, scopes and video monitors used by Nurses and Anesthesiologists.
  • Coordinate all necessary services for repairs with ANCC.
  • Assist the nursing personnel with surgical instrumentation and the disinfection and sterilization of equipment and instruments.
  • Perform surgical case picks for same day and following day cases.
  • Assist in preparing the surgical patient in the Holding Room and care of the post-operative patient in the PACU.
