About The Position

Join UChicago Medicine, as a Registry Perinatal Sonographer II in the OBGYN department at our Hyde Park location. The Perinatal Sonographer II is responsible for performing advanced Ultrasound imaging for patients with high-risk and routine pregnancies, and complex and routine gynecological conditions. This role performs detailed obstetric and gynecological imaging, including First Trimester Fetal Anatomy, Level I & II Second Trimester Anatomy and gynecological ultrasound guidance, and fertility monitoring exams. The Perinatal Sonographer must have expertise in both fetal and maternal conditions and adhere to AIUM and Maternal-Fetal Medicine standards of care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program.
  • ARDMS Registry (OB/GYN) required.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • 3-5 years of relevant OBGYN ultrasound experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Nuchal Translucency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all OB and GYN exam types, including OB Anatomy.
  • Complete exams without assistance.
  • Competent in general and advanced department protocols.
  • Troubleshoot ultrasound machine technical problems and address unresolved issues with correct UCM team.
  • Perform Ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures and intraoperative procedures.
  • Conduct training for Sonographer I including all exam types and guidance.
  • Participates in training of residents.
  • Demonstrates responsibility in order accuracy, exam billing, and protocol.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Lead Sonographer and Sonographer Supervisor.
  • Participate in imaging evaluation and improvement with Lead Educational Sonographer.
  • Complete examinations with technical accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper identification and documentation of images and reports.
  • Maintain and operate imaging equipment effectively; document any equipment concerns.
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers.
  • Prepare and plan for patient care to ensure quality and continuity.
