The Perioperative Aide - Operating Room plays a crucial role in assisting the nursing team with the care of surgical patients, ensuring that the operating rooms are prepared and that patients are supported throughout their surgical experience.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required within three months of hire.
  • 1+ years of clinical experience in an accredited hospital or surgical center.
  • Knowledge of room sterilization requirements and proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to lift and position patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgery center nursing team in the care of surgical patients before and after procedures.
  • Help patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
  • Obtain and document admission information in the electronic health record.
  • Transport patients within the department and at discharge.
  • Work in the Sterile Core to build Case Carts for surgical/procedural cases.
  • Assist the Inventory Specialist with maintaining appropriate Par Levels for supplies.
  • Assist OR Team Leads with obtaining instrumentation for upcoming cases/procedures.
  • Restock supplies/instruments not needed for procedures.
  • Monitor daily schedule for changes and added cases.
  • Assist Circulators by bringing supplies/instruments to the requested location.
  • Make hourly clinic runs to pick-up contaminated instruments/equipment and deliver clean/sterile instruments/equipment.
  • Work with the surgical team to ensure the OR/Procedure room is ready for the patient's surgical procedure.
  • Assist the surgical team as needed during surgical procedures.
  • Assist OR team with room turnover.
  • Assist Anesthesia with stocking anesthesia carts, completing safety checks, and cleaning anesthesia machines between cases.
